FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Check out videos about non-profit organizations across the country that are focused on various areas of interest. You can also search for volunteer opportunities through the Networking Zone, or by clicking the Search I2I link at the bottom of every page. If you are interested in tracking your hours for scholarship, college or job applications, you will need to create a student profile. You must be between the ages of 8 and 22 years old to participate.

If the non-profit that you volunteered with is a member of INSPIRED 2 IMPACT! and you have a student profile, you can have your hours verified by clicking the Post New Hours button on your profile. After you complete the form, your hours will be submitted to the non-profit for approval. Once your hours are approved, they will be posted to your profile page, as well as to your school profile, the non-profit's profile, and any Conversations you have joined. If the organization with which you volunteered does not have a profile, ask them to create one or help them create one so your hours can be verified.

INSPIRED 2 IMPACT! is currently in a testing phase, with only a limited number of schools and students participating in the site. However, the site will be opening up to more schools and students in the future. If you think your school would be interested in joining INSPIRED 2 IMPACT!, please encourage your advisors/couselors or teachers to visit the site and tell them what you would like to do through INSPIRED 2 IMPACT! Have them sign up for more information and updates.

Your rating is based on the questionnaire submitted by the non-profit with which you volunteered. If you received a low rating we encourage you to contact your volunteer supervisor to find out how you can receive a higher rating in the future. Always make sure you are on time, motivated, and have a genuine desire to serve the organization you signed up to help.

Once you are logged into your profile, every page in the Networking Zone/Join tab will have a Report this Page button in the top right-hand corner. Simply click this link and explain what is inappropriate in your note.

Contact INSPIRED 2 IMPACT! with your request. We will send you more information and let you know if there are any open positions. Advisory board positions are a year-long commitment and have specific expectations.

If you are a member of I2I, you can join the Non-Profit Management Conversation and talk with mentors and your peers who have experience starting and managing non-profit organizations. There are also links to conferences and online courses in the Resources Tab which can help you start a non-profit of your own.

You can promote a cause by creating a video about a non-profit in that cause area. You can upload a video through your student profile, and if that organization is a member of INSPIRED 2 IMPACT!, you can add your video to their profile as well. Then tell your friends and family to check out your video either on the INSPIRED 2 IMPACT! site or through Facebook and other sites you are involved with. You can also join Conversations related to the non-profit in the Networking Zone/Join Tab and discuss how you and others can help on the Conversation wall. If you are promoting a particular event, you can have the non-profit post the event on their schedule, post information about the event in Conversations related to the non-profit, and create a video that will help promote the purpose of the event.

First, give a little information about the organization, how you got involved and how your peers can join you in supporting this cause. Keep the video at 2 minutes or less and be creative in your filming and editing of the video. Keep it simple.

Once you've created a student profile, you can upload videos from your profile page. Make sure to read the video instructions, as well as the Copyright, Terms of Use, and Code of Conduct policies before uploading your videos. Once you upload your video, make sure to edit the details about your video. You can update the title and description, select multiple causes your video is related to, post it to your school profile and a non-profit profile, and add additional tags to help others find your videos through a search.

If you don't have a camera, you can contact your school or local library to borrow one. There are also a number of easy-to-use, inexpensive video cameras that can be purchased for under $200. Don't worry if you're not an expert editor. Student videos will cover a board spectrum of quality, editing, etc. and that is what we want. We want you to create something that shows your passion and the impact of the organizations you choose to promote. Make it your own, be creative, and engage your friends in the process!

We do not offer scholarship programs, but we do provide links to organizations that offer awards to students who are active volunteers. Go to the Award Opportunity list in the Knowledge Zone/Resources Tab to find a list of available awards.

Once you are logged in, there is an orange tab under your profile picture that reads "Post New Hours." Fill out the form. An e-mail will then be sent to the non-profit you volunteered with. They will confirm your hours electronically.

Under the log-in tab there is a link should you forget your password. Simply, enter your e-mail address and your password will be sent to you.

To join INSPIRED 2 IMPACT! you will need to create a non-profit profile in the Networking Zone/Join Tab by completing a simple form. Once your profile is approved by the site administrator, you will be able to begin posting volunteer opportunities and events, upload videos, and communicate with student volunteers.

Your organization will be expected to: 1. Create a profile, 2. Maintain your profile with the most up-to-date information, 3. Update volunteer opportunities monthly, and 4. Verify service hours submitted by students who volunteer with your organization within 24 hours of submission.

All kinds! Students of all ages and interests participate in INSPIRED 2 IMPACT! and are interested in a wide variety of causes and opportunities. We strive to provide a variety of options for students ages 8 to 22. If you have any questions about the relevance of your volunteer opportunities, please contact us and we'll review your ideas with you.

Once you create a profile, you will be able to post new volunteer opportunities and events through your profile page. Just fill out the information on the form, and it will be added to your profile and to the Conversation you have joined. It will also be visible to anyone visiting the site who searches for volunteer opportunities. Please post as many volunteer opportunities as you have available!

Each organization needs to post a detailed job description when posting a volunteer opportunity so that students know what will be expected of them. The organization needs to be prepared for volunteers and have enough work for volunteers to do. Your organization must keep volunteer postings updated so students know there is a service opportunity for them to participate in. As a result, you will receive better reviews if you provide as accurate of a description for your opportunity as possible.

By completing a Background check you will have the ability to communicate with students through the the cause walls. This is a great place to test and generate new ideas for activities to engage students, volunteer opportunities or even to tap into the creative ideas of students who care about your cause. You will also have the ability to post videos about the work that you do so students can search for your organization this way.

Your school will only need to commit to creating a school profile and selecting two faculty or staff members to verify students' enrollment at your school. This is for the safety and security of all students. As a faculty advisor for your school profile, you will need to submit or complete a background check.

Yes. Each school will be able to track the number of hours each student has completed from the school profile page. You will be able to see each student's verified service hours, as well as any service hours that have been submitted for verification but are awaiting approval.

When a student submits service hours to be verified by the non-profit with which they served, they will be approved within 24 hours of submission. On your school's profile page, you will be able to see each student's verified hours, as well as any hours that have been submitted but are awaiting approval.

As a teacher, you understand how important safety is, therefore we have mandated background checks for any adults 18 or older to assure that they are safe to communicate with students on the cause walls. These walls are also monitored and have a "Report This" button at the top of each page if anything inappropriate should appear.

Any adults who are allowed to communicate with students must pay to have an online background check completed that we keep on file. All students on the site will have to be verified by their school that they currently attend. The only personal information displayed on a student's profile is the username the student has selected, the state in which they live, and information they choose to share about people and things that inspire them. This information will only be seen by those on the site who have been verified through their school or through their background check.

We are currently working on having this access available to all parents who wish to monitor their child's activity on the site. Once it is available, you will need to pay for an online background check and be verified as the child's parent or guardian by your child's school. Once verified, you will be able to see your child's activity on the site and have the option to deactivate your child's account, but you will not have full access to the site. If you see any inappropriate activity on the site, you can click the 'Report this Page' button at the top of every page in the Networking Zone/Join Tab and describe what is happening.
